African Writers Bureau Launches Poetry Writing Course


We have something to introduce to poetry lovers in Africa. This is a poetry writing course. You can read the material online for free. I mean anyone can access the course material for free. One pays when he/she wants to get additional tutorials, coaching and editing.

Bury me in Africa
If I visit a foreign land
Then fail to come back,
When I have died,
Failing to come back to the land of my birth'
Where my mother's menstrual blood flowed,
Take me, ferry me to Africa.
I grew up in Savannah of Sub Sahara Africa;
Where wasps stung me
Inducing tears from my eyes to fall
To sink down into Africa's soils.
When I labored in the fields
The sun scotched me-
Sweat fell from my skin
And was sucked by Africa.
I sipped out blood from bleeding gums
And spat on Africa's dry footpaths.
These moments, such memories shake me,
Africa is my brooder
And I will be perpetually its son
Bury me in Africa.

A vision is something that sticks with you. I am not sure at what age a human being can relinquish his vision. I have a sad story about how a person keeps his/her vision. Let me write it in short for your own consumption. It is about my father. He was a very successful farmer. When we grew up we lived on farming, in the communal lands. I was the oldest son, living with my parents. I am not saying that I was the oldest son by birth. Fathers do confide with their children. Sadly, my father had developed poor eyesight when he was in his late 60s. When he got a round the seventies, he was completely blind. That was sad and painful to me. In his state of blindness, one day he called me and talked to me. That was one of his last sessions with me. Eventually, he passed away. Sad though. The issue I am talking about is that of vision. I have never thought of writing a bit about myself until one of my new partners gave me that suggestion.  So I waste no time, I have to do that. However, in this article, I will provide only the facts related to my writing career. Background information I grew up liking reading and writing poems. Apart from this I equally enjoyed debating.
